Cold case crime investigators have wrapped up an excavation in Keene Township in western Ionia County in hopes of finding the body of Deanie Peters.

She is the 14-year-old girl who disappeared in 1981 from Forest Hills Central Middle School. Kent County Sheriffs Dept. Spokesman Kevin Kelley said this is one of several sites cold case investigators plan to excavate. They have searched others already. There are a lot of people that would like to get some closure on this case and we’ll continue to explore the leads as they come in and are available.
