Landry’s family says he may have been the victim of a carjacking. His last confirmed location was at his girlfriend’s house in Roseville at 2:00 p.m. However, there are reports that he was seen being roughed up and shoved into a car outside of a Quiznos in Eastpointe. Witnesses say they saw a man fitting Landry’s description being forced into a car at around 2:30 p.m. The couple saw the confrontation from across the street and attempted to follow, but lost sight of the car on Gratiot.
Matthew Landry is 21-years old, 5’11″ tall, approximately 155 pounds with brown eyes and hair. His family tells Action News that his green Honda Accord was found yesterday in Detroit on Redmond and Rossini, near 8 Mile and Hayes.Landry’s family says they believe his disappearance may be connected to a Harrison Township bank robbery. During that robbery the suspect held a gun to a woman’s head and demanded money. He was arrested Tuesday while trying to carjack someone in at a Wal-Mart at Gratiot and 12 mile in Roseville. He has told police that he is 17-years-old and from Flint. The suspect is due to be arraigned on charges connected with the carjacking Wednesday afternoon.
A man fitting the description of the suspect was caught on surveillance video using Landry’s debit card at a gas station at 7 Mile and Hayes in Detroit. Landry’s family says they were able to find the video when the spotted unusual activity on his card.
Family and friends have scheduled a candlelight vigil for Matt Landry. It will be held 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Brandenberg Memorial Township Park on Jefferson Avenue.
